‘temenos: the agora as a garden sanctuary’
A Contemporary Agora
Boston, MA
A contemporary agora exists as an escape from the busy city lifestyle, allowing a deeper connection with the user that speaks to humans' intrinsic relationship with the natural environment. Through the implementation of various local community functions, boundaries are formed acting as a buffer that frames a public garden space which exists as the sanctuary at the center of the agora. This botanical sanctuary exists in harmony with the city and invites public activity and engagement within the programmed space while simultaneously providing a tranquil interlude from the city.
